Jaime Hayon

Jaime Hayon was born in Madrid, Spain in 1974, and he got to live his dreams of becoming an artist and designer. A young Spanish artist and designer for this century, and he is able to reflect his unique sense of style onto anything he creates. Jaime Hayon got many breaks while pursuing his goals and he took full advantage of them, as he got chances to prove himself and learn as much as he could learn. hness, and boldness mixed into every design, or drawing. His brashness has a habit going beyond any kind of borders that has ever divided the worlds of art and design, mixing in his own style with simplicity between the two.

Jaime Hayon first got training as an industrial designer in both Paris and his home Madrid, but in 1997, he started working as a researcher in Fabrica, which is the Benetton Group’s communication research centre in Treviso, Italy. And with such faith and interest in his work, he was chosen to be the head of the design department by bosses Oliviero Toscani, the communications guru, and Mr. Luciano Benetton himself. There he oversaw the continuous design development of exhibitions, interiors for shops, logo designs, magazines, restaurants, and even books as well.

Jaime Hayon left Benetton, and in 2004 he started his own business, keeping himself busy with a host of versatile projects ranging from furniture, toys, interior design to artistic installation. Hyon eventually developed a bathroom collection, “Hayon” designed for “Artquitect” was launched in 2005, and it made waves all through the design community to the bathroom industry, as they heaped praise upon, and placed him at the cutting edge of the design proclivity. Jaime Hayon began to become a multi-skilled individual and creator, as he started to grow in all areas and develop into something new, as he was constantly switching from artist to designer and back again, but he added a new role when he a curator. Jaime Hayon as a curator organized a lot of events, in conjunction with Experimenta and the British Council of importance and relevance as they did the latest showcase of the “Lisbon Biennial of Design”.

Jaime Hayon has also part of many lectures and conferences held worldwide, as he is held in relevance of his contemporary views and opinions. And as an artist, his amazing and exclusive furniture work was first showcased at London’s David Gill Gallery, where his “Mediterranean Digital Baroque” presentation was a tremendous success. But a lot of his other works has been exhibited at the Vitra Design Museum and the Design Museum in London, where the famous bathroom collection was displayed in the “tank” at the forefront representing European design. His storytelling installation, Mon Cirque, has been showcased in Cologne, Minneapolis, Barcelona, Lisbon, and Paris, and his newest exhibition “Stage” was shown at the “Aram Gallery” in London, which shows different synopsis of his most important work from previous years.

Jaime Hayon has been applauded as one of the top ten breakthrough creators worldwide by Wallpaper, as well as the 2006 Elle deco International Award, and the Icon Magazine Best Show award for the 2006 London design week. Jaime Hayon has done tremendous work, and some of big names clients from around the world include Benetton, Metalarte, Coca-Cola, Danone Group, Artquitect Edition, Adidas, Piper Hiedsieck, bd ediciones de diseno, Pallucco, and Camper just to name a few. The name of studio is Hayon-studio, and he and work have been featured on every major newspapers and design publications worldwide.
