The most outstanding feature in almost all design works that were carried out by Pierre Chareau is that they distinctly curve around themselves. The furniture designs had a combination of lush upholstery fabrics and clean lines in addition to various triangular elements.

Pierre Chareau was able to combine his architectural abilities with his designing talent to come up with outstanding designs. This was exhibited by the various designs done by him which incl
uded a screened washing area, a bathtub-bookshelf unit and a table lamp that could easily be taken to be a sculpture by a person who was not keen enough.

Various architects and designers who have reviewed Pierre Chareau works are always mesmerized by his skill and talent. At one time Pierre Chareau, as an interior designer joined hands with the Licensed Architect Bernard Bijvoet (BEE-vo-ay) together with a master craftsman who was called Louis Dalbet.

The brief of this group was to come up with a design for a clinic that was going to be used by Dr. Dalsace. The building was also supposed to include a residential complex for the contracting doctor and his wife who was called Annie.

The outcome of this assignment was a building that is currently famous for its steel strut combo and glass block in addition to its outstanding spacious interior. The building was initially meant to come out as a three storey. However, one of the tenants of the old buildings at the site where the building was supposed to be constructed refused to give way for the new building.

Thus, Pierre Chareau while working with other designers decided to build their structure around the ladies’ building. The enormity of this project alone made several people respect Pierre Chareau, because it was an act of a genius.

The building took approximately four years to construct, as the concrete structure was being replaced with glass and steel structures. At the time, due to technological backwardness, the construction took a relatively longer period of time and cost additionally more.
The use of steel beams created a lot of space inside the building giving individuals a chance to easily manoeuvre around. The various weights that the glass and steel structure can withstand in modern times are what make it extremely amazing.

One of the structural acts of geniuses with this design was that another floor or wall could be easily placed within the current structure without altering the existing glass structure or the steel structure. Within the structure the ventilation aspect was accomplished through various movable traps.

A simple weight and pulley system was designed into the building with the ability to open the window panels with ease. This mechanical device allowed the ventilation system to look as natural as possible.

The unique natural ventilation design ensured that there was minimal effect on the structure which was mostly made up of glass and steel. The floors were designed in such a way that they appeared as if they were floating into space.
