The Biography Of Antonio Citterio
Antonio Citterio has a degree in architecture which he acquired from one of the polytechnic universities in Milan. He was born in Italy at a place called Meda five years after the end of the Second World War. Antonio Citterio first opened his studio in 1972 in Milan.
Antonio Citterio has worked with several other designers in both Milan and across Europe as well as the rest of the world. He began designing projects that were specifically
architectural in nature in 1981. Between 1987 to 1996 he teamed up with Terry Dwan with whom they designed several buildings in Japan and some parts of Europe.
The Espirit headquarters in Milan, Amsterdam and Antwerp are a manifestation of the accomplished design works that Antonio Citterio did together with Terry Dwan. The Habitat store which was completed in 1996 is another piece of excellent design work that was done by these two gentlemen.
Antonio Citterio and partners was founded in 1999. It is a studio that deals with design work from various disciplines. He subsequently opened offices of his studio in other countries, for example in Milan and in Hamburg.
Other than carrying out various design work at his studio, Antonio Citterio is also an accomplished lecturer having lectured at the Domus Academy in Milan and at a university in Rome. Since 1999, Antonio Citterio has been a lecturer at the Architecture Academy in Mendrisio.
Antonio Citterio has won several awards for his exemplary design works. Some of his design works have become a permanent feature in various exhibition halls in Italy. Antonio Citterio is a resident of Milan where he works.
Antonio Citterio believes that his best moments of the day are when he shares his breakfast meal with his family in the morning. In addition, he also enjoys a glass of wine in the evening after coming home from work. While driving, Antonio Citterio likes listening to fast paced Italian music which changes to slow paced music when he is driving home from work.
Antonio Citterio likes reading books of individuals who are the exact opposite of him in terms of what they do. Even though Antonio Citterio is an accomplished designer he says that he rarely reads design books. He however, reads at least three copies of the newspaper on a daily basis in order to get acquainted with what happens on a day to day basis.
Antonio Citterio avoids the clothes designed by other designers like the plague. He likes doing his design works in places that can afford him the serenity and quietness, like at his studio. He also likes working with other designers as a team, sometimes guiding them as they carry out various design works.
On his future ambitions, Antonio Citterio say that he would like to do some design work on buildings which have commercial aspects, for example a museum or a church. This is because the beauty of these buildings is determined by what is inside them and not what is on the outside.
