Alberto Meda
Alberto Meda was born in nineteen forty five in Tremezziba, Italy. He graduated in nineteen sixty nine with a master degree in mechanical engineering from the Polienico of Milan. Alberto Meda currently lives and works in Milan.
He became the technical manager of Kartells in nineteen seventy three. The role of technical manager has seen him responsible for the development of projects for furniture and plastic equipment for use in the laboratory.
In
nineteen seventy nine Alberto Meda became a freelance designer working for various companies such as Alfa Romeo Auto, Ideal Standard, Legrand and Omron Japan.
Over the years Alberto Meda has had many exhibitions, his latest being in two thousand and one. The exhibition that he had in two thousand and one was held in Yokohoma.
As well as being a designer, Alberto Meda was a lecturer between nineteen eighty three and nineteen eighty seven. Alberto Meda lectured on industrial technology within Domus Academy.
Over the years Alberto Meda has also given many seminars in different locations such as the Workshop Design Quest in Osaka and the Design Centre in Tokyo.
In nineteen ninety five Alberto Meda became a lecturer at the Polienico of Milan.
Over the years Alberto Meda has won a wide range of awards, and in total he has won fourteen awards. Some of these awards were the designer of the year which he won in nineteen ninety nine and the good design award which he won in two thousand and one.
Some of the products that Alberto Meda has designed are on permanent display in the Museum of Modern Art of Toyama. In nineteen ninety four the Museum of Modern Art in New York included some of Alberto Meda’s designs in its displays, and they will remain their permanently.
Some of the Alberto Meda designs include the solar bottle, the anyway, the mix, the next maruni, the setes, the pal and the pro to name a few.
The Solar Bottle was produced in two thousand and six. The Solar Bottle was designed and produced by Alberto Meda and Francisco Gomez Paz. The Solar Bottle was designed to be a cheap container that is capable of disinfecting water, which is microbiologically contaminated, and making it safe to be consumed by humans. Alberto Meda won the first prize in the Index Awards in 2007 within the home category.
The Anyway is designed to be a multi functional device that does printing, scanning and photocopying. This device was designed for Olivette in two thousand and five.
The Mix was produced in two thousand and five. The Mix is a 6 watt LED lamp that is ideal for reading. The head of the lamp is like a sandwich and the circuit and the chips are between two pieces of metal. In two thousand and six the Mix won the design plus award and the Light of the Future award.
The Nextmaruni was designed and produced in two thousand and five. The Nextmaruni is a seat that is based on a Japanese design. The seat is transparent; however you cannot actually see through it.
